This is the Garrotxa chair

At Garbar, we’ve been designing furniture made for real life for years—pieces created to make our days easier, more comfortable, and more intentional. And among all the designs in our catalog, there’s one that represents us in a very special way: the Garrotxa chair.

A name rooted in history, territory, and identity

Its name carries both heritage and geography. La Garrotxa is a natural paradise of dormant volcanoes and quiet forests, and it’s also where our headquarters are located. It’s the landscape that inspires us and reminds us why we design the way we do. That’s why naming one of our most iconic chairs Garrotxa wasn’t a casual decision, but a statement of identity. What better name for something we deeply believe in?

The Garrotxa chair is our conscious, updated interpretation of the traditional monobloc chair—the universal, democratic design we’ve all used at some point: on terraces, at local festivals and events, patios… even in scenes that have become part of recent pop culture. It’s an omnipresent, democratic, unmistakable object. A basic. But at Garbar, we’ve reimagined it with intention.

A sustainable icon

Its design appears simple, but every detail is deliberate. The round seat reduces volume. The narrow backrest surprises with how well it supports the body—light yet ergonomic. The structure is lightweight, practical, and stackable, making it perfect for outdoor and indoor environments that need functionality. It’s the chair that’s always there when you require it. And above all, it’s sustainable.

Made from recycled polypropylene—the material is both recycled and recyclable—the Garrotxa chair proves that even an everyday plastic chair can become an act of responsibility. A reminder that design evolves when we listen to the landscape around us and let it guide us toward more conscious choices.

A Garbar classic for today and tomorrow

The Garrotxa has been one of our icons for years. Not because it’s the most striking, but because it’s the most honest: a timeless, accessible design born from a landscape that inspires us to work with intention. At Garbar, we’re certain of one thing: good design makes life easier, and sustainability makes it fairer.
